Luci Baker Johnson, Secretary

I’m what many church enthusiasts call a “cradle Lutheran”, baptized in Barron, Wisconsin when I was 14 days old. I was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran in Saint Paul, Minnesota in April 1974. I relocated to Seattle in 1992 and quickly found my new ‘home church’, Phinney Ridge Lutheran, which I joined in 1992. My husband and I were married at Phinney in October 2005, and in 2012 Doug became a member of Phinney at the Easter vigil.

During my three decades as a member of PRLC, I’ve served in a number of ways: food bank volunteer, Gospel Choir (former), and ‘librarian’ for the church library. (Doug and I share the library role.)

In August 2011, Candi Olson created the PRLC COMMUNITY GROUP (Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/groups/221490651234908 ). In 2015, I was appointed Group Administrator. At that, time I created the PRLC Facebook PAGE (https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=phinney%20ridge%20lutheran%20church ). The GROUP is for individuals to join and engage with fellow members, and the PAGE is the official way PRLC shows the public who we are: it is our public profile.

I’ve also been a committee member on the Refugee Leadership Team (fall 2018-present); a member of the Salem Circle (2016-present); and a member of Spirited Women (2017-present). My proudest accomplishments have been as a member of the 100th Anniversary Committee (2014-2016); serving as Historian/Archivist (2015-present); and helping to establish a Land Acknowledgement statement for our congregation (see page 5 in the Fall 2022 Tower Echoes).

I’m a step-mother to five grown children and grandmother to 13 children. My passions include inter-generational ministry, families dealing with dementia, the widows/homebound. This is my first time serving on a church council. This is a new opportunity, with multiple responsibilities.
