The Great Three Days

Maundy Thursday Holy Communion, April 14 – 7:30 p.m.
The great Three Days of Easter begin on this night when we remember Jesus’ institution of the Lord’s Supper. This service includes foot washing and the stripping of the altar. The liturgy does not end but continues Good Friday.

The Way of the Cross, Good Friday, April 15 – Noon
We contemplate Jesus’ passion and death at eight stations of the Cross with prayer, hymns, and scripture.

Stations of the Cross for Children, Good Friday, April 15 – 6:30 p.m.
On the front lawn.

Adoration of the Cross, Good Friday, April 15 – 7:30 p.m.
Tonight we listen to the Passion according to John and behold the life-giving cross. The chancel choir leads the singing at this service where there will be opportunity to light candles and pray around the cross.

The Great Vigil of Easter, April 16 – 6:30 p.m.
Tonight is the culmination of Three Days that includes the blessing of the new fire, stories of salvation from the scriptures, Baptism, and Eucharist. At this service we proclaim with joy, “This is the night!” when Christ passes from death to life. We join Christ in this passing over to rebirth and renewal of life.

The joy of the Easter Vigil spills over to Sunday morning with a festive service of Holy Communion.
