A Note from Our Parish Administrator

When I last wrote to you all, I shared about the importance – and messiness – of community. I shared that I was excited to hear, listen, read, see and sense about folks and life here at Phinney Ridge. After two months, I’d like to share a reflection– hold up a mirror to PRLC, if you will. I hope you will see how amazing of a community you are from just the little part I have seen with my “fresh” set of eyes.

I have to share about the teamwork I am seeing amongst staff, Council, and the PRLC community. I am in awe. I haven’t even fully witnessed the extent of it myself – but I am reaping the fruits of it. Your staff, Council, and volunteers worked together to transition to worship in person while maintaining a different kind of livestream experience during the 15th or so month of an exhausting global pandemic. While down three key positions (Parish Administrator, Office Manager, and Organist). While also laying the groundwork to hire new staff; planning for a (slightly delayed) sabbatical; renovating some classrooms for Children & Youth ministry and the preschool; and keeping your Outreach ministries, Music ministries, Quilting ministry, and Children, Youth & Family ministries going. And I am sure I am missing several additional significant things.

That is awe-some teamwork, dedication, and tilling of good soil. I’m excited to share more specifics as we celebrate the PRLC community this past year during our (abbreviated) stewardship campaign. And I can’t wait to see more of the fruit of this foundational work as 2022 begins.

(And, yes, there was and is some messiness. But it’s clear that the strength of this community is shining through. Thanks be to God.)

Advent Blessings as we recall what it is like to wait in the wilderness for God to turn our world right side up through the divine and human form of the Christ child.

Peace,

Ann Erickson
