Pastor Bryon Hansen is a native of Washington State. He was born in Puyallup and studied at Western Washington University in Bellingham. He studied further at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley where he learned theology and pastoral ministry in the wonderful ecumenical mix of the Graduate Theological Union. Most recently, Pastor Hansen studied at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, where he completed a Doctor of Ministry in preaching degree.
Ordained to the ministry of Word and Sacrament in 1986, Pastor Hansen has served congregations in Idaho, Oregon and Northern California. His passions in ministry are liturgy, preaching and faith formation for children, youth and adults. He believes these gifts from God powerfully shape and transform lives.
Pastor Hansen is married to the Reverend Canon Britt Olson, a Priest in the Episcopal Church. In their Sabbath time they enjoy hiking, exploring the Seattle area, reading, film and spending time with friends. They share their home with a cat named Linus and a black lab named Sally. These pets make sure their life is never boring.
Anne Van Kley is our Associate Pastor.
Anne (whose last name rhymes with “fly”) is a recent graduate of Wartburg Seminary, having completed her studies in response to a lifelong nudge from the Holy Spirit to embrace the vocation of pastor. Anne grew up in Walla Walla and, as a native Northwesterner, she especially enjoys living in Seattle and doing ministry with the Phinney community. Anne has been married for twelve years and has three children. Her husband, Will, originally from Minnesota, is a professional musician specializing in guitar, drums and vocals. Alongside Anne, he has been a longtime partner in leading Vacation Bible Schools and Sunday School openings. Anne and Will have three children: Lydia, Charlotte (call her “Charlie”), and Nicholas. Anne and her family love to sing and play music together. They also like to explore new local places, take long road trips and enjoy good food.
Anne is very supportive of PRLC’s commitment to worship, liturgy, music and providing a witness and service to the wider community. She feels called to work collaboratively to strengthen the current mission and discipleship that is so strong at PRLC but is also excited to help to lead us in new and exciting directions inspired by the Holy Spirit.
