Meet and Work with the Students and Teachers at Ailanga School Project
Would you like to go to Africa? If you’re a high school student starting your sophomore or junior year, here is an opportunity for you in the summer of 2020. The Ailanga School Project is a partnership with ELCA congregations in NE Seattle and the Ailanga Lutheran Junior Seminary in Usa River, Tanzania. Since 2004, high school students and adults have traveled for two weeks to meet and work with the students and teachers at Ailanga and to see the work of the Meru Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania.
Ailanga is in a beautiful location right at the south entrance to Arusha National Park. This might be one of the places you’ll visit during the mid-week safari to see the amazing and wonderful animals and landscape of northern Tanzania. It’s the most popular safari destination.
But the most important and wonderful thing about this trip is simply being with the students and teachers at Ailanga. Besides the school, you’ll visit congregations and hospitals and other ministry sites of the Meru Diocese. It is a wonderful thing to form these lifetime relationships with our sisters and brothers in Christ in Tanzania. Their hospitality and welcome is outstanding.
An application for the 2020 trip, plus more information, is below. The Ailanga School Project Board would like applications to be submitted by August 21, 2019, but there is a little flexibility.
I was a founder of this program when I was pastor at Faith, and I’ve traveled to Tanzania three times. I cannot overestimate what a wonderful, joyous, and powerful experience this is. I’m happy to answer questions. Email is best right now: email@example.com.
