Phinney Ridge Lutheran Volunteers Needed for MLK Day of Service Project

January 15, 2018          9am-Noon

For the first time, PRLC is participating in the United Way Day of Service on the MLK Holiday. We have always thought it was a great idea–a way to actually honor the legacy of Dr Martin Luther King Jr with action!

We have chosen a project benefiting the Seattle office of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. They have had an office on the 4th floor at PRLC for many years and are moving!

NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need. The Seattle staff and volunteer leaders work to raise awareness and provide essential and free referral, support, education, and outreach surrounding mental illness.

We need 30 volunteers–families welcome but volunteers must be 16 years of age or older (sorry!). We also need a couple of trucks to move their office items in. Not everyone will need to be moving furniture. Some will help them unpack & settle into their new office in the U District. Won’t you please consider joining this worthwhile project to help a long-time tenant doing vital work in our community? Please indicate your willingness on the “Count Me In” form on the back of the half sheet in your bulletin and we’ll be in touch with more logistics and details. —Signe Roscoe & Jenn Boelter
